There is no denying that wild swimming has become HUGE over the last couple of years, and perhaps one of the positives to come out of the lockdowns. People had to become resourceful with how they got their exercise as all gyms and leisure centres were shut. There was also a massive push on mental health during the pandemic, with open water swimming being at the forefront as a natural medicine for body and mind.
In Exmouth we are lucky enough to have such easy access to the ocean, but wild swimming can take place in any natural body of water: rivers, ponds, lakes. Whether you’re a ‘quick 5 min dip’ or a ‘clock 3k before breakfast’ swimmer, it really doesn’t matter, the main thing is that you’re out there!
As well as being great for your health, it’s an amazing social sport and the perfect way to meet like-minded people and have some fun.
